Nutritionist Versus a Nutrition and Life Coach, Which is More Suited For You
Working with a nutritionist (generally):
A nutritionist’s main focus is on providing nutritional advice and creating a nutrition plan specific to your needs. This could involve helping you lose weight or work through other ailments through nutrition (depending on what they specialize in). Appointments are usually individual sessions that you can book.
Working with a nutrition and life coach:
A nutrition and life coach’s main focus is on creating dietary changes in collaboration with you while also working with you to create these healthy habits.
This also involves asking the right questions to help individuals understand what has been keeping them stuck and how to handle this. Empowering individuals to create lifelong changes both in terms of diet and within their life.
The word coach comes from the way they coach you through the obstacles that come up when working towards your goals. Different coaches will specialize in different things; see my speciality below.
Working with ME as a nutrition and life coach:
I focus on empowering individuals to heal their relationships with food and themselves. To do this I help people understand the power that their deep-rooted beliefs have over their outcomes, including the symptoms of these beliefs such as: self-doubt, low self-confidence, emotional eating, restrictive dieting, binge eating etc.
Through helping my clients understand and become aware of these beliefs I am able to coach them through the changing of these beliefs and habits. Resulting in my clients experiencing huge shifts in their mindset and their healing journeys.
How to decide if a nutritionist or a nutrition and life coach is for you:
In order to decide which is right for you it is important to decide what you want to achieve by seeking out either (nutritionist or nutrition and life coach); are you looking for some dietary shifts? OR some big lifestyle shifts?
I will be straight up with you; my coaching is not for everyone – I am not giving out meal plans: I work alongside my clients in deciding what dietary changes need to be made and coach them through this process.
It is important to recognize that when deciding to work with me; you are deciding to create big shifts in your life: particularly in your mindset.
Once you decide what you want to achieve through working with a nutritionist or a nutrition and life coach you can make a more informed decision. You can then seek out more information about either and move forward from this point.
In Closing:
A nutritionist has a large focus on creating a dietary plan for you, while, a nutrition and life coach is focused on coaching you through creating life long lifestyle changes.
There are many specialties within both fields. My specialty is in empowering individuals to heal their relationship with food and themselves by working through the underlying causes. To find out more about me and what I do check out my about me page here.
